Cookies…or dog treats?
When I make cookies at home, I tend to eat most of them. I usually try to give away a few at work, but I still end up eating way too many. Making dog treats is seriously the way to go! Your house still gets that amazing cookie smell, and the best part is, you won’t want to eat them!
Not going to lie, though… I did try one little bite haha. The verdict? A very little peanut butter flavor…and not much else!
The cookies, I mean dog treats, are SUPER easy to make! I am all for minimal baking. I originally was only going to use five ingredients, not six, however, the dough was a bit dry and so I decided to add some pumpkin.
I wanted to make these treats cute, so I ordered a cookie cutter off of Amazon. There are so many other options and sizes out there. I went with just the dog bone because I wanted to keep the treats easy and simple.
I also poked holes into the cookies before putting them into the oven!
Six Ingredient Dog Treats by Megan:
- 3 cups flour (I used unbleached)
- 1 cup peanut butter (I used Jiff Natural)
- 1/2 cup oats (I used old-fashioned)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup water
- 2/3 cup canned pumpkin
Preheat the oven to 350.
Mix all the ingredients together, and then roll out the dough! I put the dough on parchment paper when I flattened it so that it would not get my counters all dirty. Once you have rolled out the dough, simply use the dog bone cookie cutter!
Line a cookie tray with parchment paper, and set the bone-shaped treats close together! They do not expand, so you can fit a lot on one tray! Poke the bones with a fork to add the holes.
Place in the oven for 20 minutes. They are done if they are a bit brown on the edges and feel firm.
I let the treats cool for about ten minutes before giving one to Allie. She LOVED it! I ended up giving her three, and she kept begging for more.
The batch made about 35 treats using the cutter that I linked above.
I hope your pup LOVES them as much as Allie did! 🙂
Have you ever made dog treats? If so, can you share the recipe?
